A Year at Telford HallAs it invariably comes up to the end of the year you cant help but look back on the time that has passed and everything that has changed. I arrived at Telford on that fateful Tuesday in September obviously scared out of my wits. This wasn’t all due to the nerves always surrounding freshers but more because the entrance to Telford was manned by a dozen or so guys in cow onsie outfits. I still remember the first words I said to my mum were ‘what have I let myself in for’. But what I didn’t realise then and only after a year of living here, is that I let myself in for the best year of my life, and no doubt living in Telford next year will even top this one.
Its hard to even start reviewing my year at Telford. We never do things by halves, and the annual events have been nothing but epic. From our Christmas Ball on a boat to our misletoe social before the end of Christmas, by the irst term I think we had all witnessed the interhall romances at the misletoe social (obviously) and a fair amount of mild nudity on every bus trip the hall had ventured on.
Aside from the more formal events of the year, Telford has not let any one down in keeping up the entertainment. We have one soul bench which has served as the hub of all hilarious antics since the warmer weather has arrived. The newly formed Telford Cricket Association keep tally of the Telford Ashes score huddled round the bench, of which the boys take more seriously than their degrees. On a sunny weekend morning you can always be sure someone will be on the legendary bench ready to share stores of the ridiculous night before and however stupid as it sounds, it simply shows our sense of community. If ive learnt anything form living in Telford, its that we rarely win sports, or raise the most money in rag, but we are the most close knitt family on campus. We may be the smallest hall but Telford has given me the best year I could ever ask for, bring on fresher 2011!

Internet fame for our Treasurer/neighbourhood drunk Ian Gilmour!
He’s found himself on FRONT magazine’s website in their ‘Mate in a State’ section. I know.. amazing! BUT also a stark reminder of how much of a tit you can make of yourself when you finish a bottle of Southern Comfort in Fresher’s week…
So without further ado.. here it is!
We all missed Telford over Christmas, isn’t it great, now we’re back we can get smashed together again like the old days..
…what’s that? we can’t? we all have exams? …..shit.
…IF ONLY THERE WAS SOME KIND OF “RE FRESHERS” WEEK AT THE END OF EXAMS BETWEEN THE DATES OF MONDAY 7th FEB – SUNDAY 13th FEB…
…Oh there is? ..Fantastic.
Yes, this is a BIG DEAL. Everyone in Telford back together again for a week of comradary, fancy dress, punch and incest.. The ex-Telford boys and girls ‘the town lot’ are also very much invited, now all us freshers are less afraid of you all.
The timetable for the week’s events is being sorted out and will be emailed out soon.
..Bloody excited everyone ![]()
